House arrest is a preventive measure that is applied to an accused or suspected of committing a crime if it is impossible to apply another, more lenient measure.
House arrest is regulated by Art. 107 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) of the Russian Federation. House arrest means the permanent presence of the accused or suspect in housing, where he has the right to stay on any legal basis, with certain restrictions and control exercised over him.
At the same time, house arrest as a preventive measure does not have the purpose of infringing on or violating human rights.
